Is it safe to exercise during pregnancy?

If you are healthy and your pregnancy is normal, it is safe to continue or start most types of exercise, but you may need to make a few changes. Physical activity does not increase your risk of miscarriage, low birth weight, or early delivery. However, it is important to discuss exercise with your obstetrician or other member of your health care team during your early prenatal visits. If your health care professional gives you the OK to exercise, you can decide together on an exercise routine that fits your needs and is safe during pregnancy. What are the benefits of exercise during pregnancy?

Regular exercise during pregnancy benefits you and your baby in these key ways:

  • May decrease your risk of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and cesarean delivery

Pregnant women struggle to find fitness classes that serve their unique needs beyond a standard prenatal yoga class.  Realizing this, GET IT DONE FITNESS is now offering a Prenatal Class tailored to expectant mothers of all fitness levels.  This class incorporates cardiovascular, core, strength and resistance training using a variety of exercises for a total body workout.  We have created this class so that pregnant women can reap the multiple benefits of exercise during pregnancy in the comfortable setting of a class made just for them.  All classes are instructed by a certified personal trainer with years of experience training pregnant women.  We also offer nutritional coaching with a professional licensed dietitian. (CALL OR EMAIL US FOR ALL INQUIRIES)
